College football started this week and this week might be one of the most exciting opening week in recent history. The match ups were highly competitive and several top ten teams went down in their first game.
Thursday offered early fireworks as the ninth ranked Tennessee Volunteers face against unranked Appalachian State and were forced to play all the way into overtime coming back from a ten-point deficit to squeak out a victory . It's going to be an interesting season for the SEC East. The other interesting game on Thursday was 19 Louisville smashing unranked Charlotte, the Kentucky team could be competitive in the ACC against FSU.
Friday didn't offer any upsets but eighth ranked Stanford staked a claim as top ten team by defeating Kansas State. Michigan State and Baylor also gained victories Friday night.
Top ranked Alabama won easily against 20 USC while the second place Clemson Tigers had a greater challenge against the Auburn Tigers winning by only six points.
The first big upset came as 15 Houston Cougars took down 3 Oklahoma Sooners in a thrilling noon game that ended in a 10-point victory. Oklahoma will have a tough road ahead if they want to make it into the playoffs. Fifth ranked LSU couldn't maintain an undefeated season either as they fell to unranked Wisconsin showing some weakness in the Southeastern Conference. Speaking of SEC, some impressive victories by for Texas A&M against 16 UCLA and 18UGA over 22UNC. 6 Ohio State and 7 Michigan both got wins as well, rounding out the top ten.
Sunday did not let up on the excitement as the final top ten team went down when Texas beat 10 Notre Dame in an exciting overtime finale. Monday finished a spectacular week in exhilarating fashion with 4 Florida State defeating 11 Ole Miss in a hard fought battle.
