Camp NaNoWriMo April 2016 Recap

I made it to my desire word count but I had to give up on adding much else to my story. After I resorted to short fiction, I realized I just need to think more about my writing but unfortunately I was just too tired to push it out and I didn't want to have to deal with the mess I would have made with the work so I resorts to stream of conscious.

At the end of the month, this boiled down to a typing exercise but I did also managed to add about twenty thousand extra words to my manuscript that will be helpful in the future. I know now to set a lower goal during these busy months and that will be my plan in July or whenever the next camp is planned to take place. I think they usually stick to thirty day months.

I do enjoy the challenge and I'm glad I stuck with it to the end. The crazy writing that I cranked out in the last bit of the month right before midnight will be some entertaining reading for another day. Now I can get back to reading and all the other things I like to do and work on my novel at a more steady pace.

Looking back I started out keeping up to pace but by the first week I was really behind. I went to a convention and I just didn't write enough so by the second week I had not recovered my pace despite one Monday night at the coffee shop. I continued to lag behind not producing anything but keeping steady at about five to seven hundred words a day. I think this is a better pace for my lifestyle at the moment. It all came down to the last day when I had to produce on a deadline but that gives me the exception of quality.
