NCAA Men's Basketball: Big 12 Tournament Preview
March Madness gets even more exciting tomorrow with several big tournaments getting underway. Possibly the best conference this year, the Big 12 kicks off with two games with four formidable teams. In the first game of the night at 7pm, the Kansas State Wildcats face Oklahoma state Cowboys. The late night game is between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Texas Christian University Horned Frogs.
KSU has split games with Oklahoma State but I am favoring the Wildcats over the Cowboys. The winner of this game will go on to face the number one team in the Conference, the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas is the number one ranked team in the entire league so whoever faces them will most likely be eliminated.
I'm picking Texas Tech over TCU since the Red Raiders have beat the Horned Frogs in both meetings this season and have a way better record. It is a testament to how good this conference is that the record of Texas Tech gets pushed to the bottom game. The winner of this game gets to play the West Virginia University Mountaineers, second in the conference and ninth overall.
The games on the tenth will be some interesting matchups, one between the Baylor Bears and the Texas Longhorns, the other between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Iowa State Cyclones. All of these teams are ranked and this will be some great basketball to watch.
The winner of this conference could easily be a team that will make it to the final four, if not the championship. My predictions are that Baylor will beat Texas but fall to Kansas in the top bracket and I think Oklahoma will beat Iowa state and West Virginia in the bottom bracket only to fall to Kansas in the Big 12 tournament championship. It's not too risky to pick the number one team but I've seen Kansas play and they're good! March Madness is really getting underway now!
